Wes weighs in

October 10, 2007

A Financial Disclosure report for Wes Kennison was available last night on the NYS Board of Elections web site. It showed that the loss of the Democratic endorsement has hurt him in the pocketbook. While his former supporters have raised over $6,400 for their endorsed candidates, Wes’s committee had taken in only $1,533 as of the October 1 reporting deadline. (Apparently, as with Geneseo’s Future, the Kennison report was filed on time electronically with the state, and a hard copy was brought into the local office yesterday.)

It does not appear that there is a separate committee to finance the joint efforts of the three incumbents who are running together on the Conservative and Common Sense lines, as no other filings have been made. The signs promoting all three were paid for out of the Kennison committee.

Total expenditures of $671 have left the committee with just $862 on hand. None of the three candidates contributed money to the committee, and it would be in the hole except for a $1,000 contribution from salt mine president Joe Bucci.

As of this morning there has still not been a filing from the Will Wadsworth campaign either online or at the county Board of Elections. A filing from the Geneseo Town Republican Committee shows that $1,000 was disbursed to the three endorsed candidates with Will getting $500 and the two town board candidates getting $250 each. The Town Democrat Committee filed a report showing no recent contributions and no distributions or expenditures for the candidates.

The $250 for David Dwyer was not included as part of the Kennison report and may have paid for David’s separate signs. (which also don’t appear to be reported). Any candidate or committee that spends or raises less than $1,000 total would not have to file a disclosure, unless they are spending money outside their designated committee. Since David has designated Wes’s committee, it appears he should file a separate report on his own activities.

It will be interesting to see whether Will’s recent strong support for the Lowe’s project will result in a contribution from the Frew family. Yesterday his campaign was busy plastering the Frew Farm with campaign signs and last night Will made an appearance at a pro-Lowe’s meeting and pledged support for the project.
